Integral-8
by Tom Herbst

This is my second gem design. It was motivated by my noticing that designs with multiple facets meeting at the girdle provide lots of sparkle. I also wanted an asymmetric design, since they seem to give more interesting, complex reflections.

Integral-8 is a fairly simple design, and is appropriate for faceters with all levels of experience. It appeared on the OPLC faceter's CD.

At right is an 8.5 mm, 2.65 ct Integral-8 cut from a flawless nodule of light green Afghani tourmaline.

GemCAD and GemRay output for Integral-8 appear below. The GemCAD file is available here.
